Aunt Shirley's Mentoring Center

Ok, here it is, a number of people asked me why I named my mentoring center “Aunt Shirley” is she real or fictitious?

My mentoring center, “Aunt Shirley’s Mentoring Center” ASMC is named after one of the most important women in my life. It is named in honor of my Aunt Shirley.
My Aunt Shirley is my sperm donor’s baby sister. The donor decided he wanted nothing to do with us, but she decided in spite of him we were/are still her blood, her nieces and nephews.
Her house was a place of refuge for me. A safe haven, a place of escape for a very troubled child, nothing bad ever happened to me at Aunt Shirley’s house. I was never hit there. I learned to ride a bike, roller skate, went to my first drive in movie, had rice Krispy treats and a number of other childhood first happened right at Aunt Shirley’s house.
It was a place where I knew I was loved unconditionally. I didn’t’ have to earn her love I was just loved. When it came to naming my mentoring center, my heart wanted a place where children could experience that same type of safe love.
I called my aunt and received her permission to name my center after her. She was/is of course honored. Now you have it the name behind the center.
ASMC is a 501C3 Non-profit corporation. All donations are tax deductible and we are in compliance with the IRS rules and regulations governing 501 C 3 so you can donate with confidence.
A thank you letter/receipt with tax ID number will be provided to all donors with-in 10 days of contributions.
Aunt Shirley’s Mentoring Center is now collecting donation as we help our mentees return to school with all of the supplies, clothes, and shoes they will need to get off on a good start. Please send donations to: PO BOX 618402, Orlando, FL 32861-8402.
